Research Projects

2014 - 2022 The Post-War Project
The Post War Project is an ongoing research project which was founded in the exploration of creative response and interpretation of the WWI Australian Soldier Settlement scheme focusing particularly on one of the largest Victorian settlements, Red Cliffs . The settlement scheme was established as an initiative of the Commonwealth and State Governments to assist in the repatriation of service personnel returning from the First World War. Since it’s inception my research has become expansive including the individual analysis of over 650 AIF service records relating to those that settled at Red Cliffs. The injuries and illnesses which impacted each serviceman, and one woman (a nurse), were meticulously reviewed over several years and a unique infographic system was created to indicate the physical impacts of war service on the ‘blockies’. In addition to the creation of two exhibitions of works on paper, these data sets eventually led to the creation of the large scale installation titled The Picket Sentinels.
